Jordan + Amber

Rainy, but perfect.

Proposals, man, they get me every time. 

Let’s start with this- how lucky am I to have a career where I get to celebrate with people on their most special days?! Like, are you kidding?? 

Meet Jordan and Amber. High school sweethearts. Joyful and madly in love. 

Jordan messaged me a few weeks before the proposal date to hash out some details and prepare for the big day. As the proposal got closer, the forecast got worse. Just the day before, the radar showed rain from West Michigan to Western Wisconsin. There was no escaping the rain- it was coming. But Jordan didn’t care. He said that the plan was in place and that he was proposing rain or shine. 

My response- “Let’s do it! But how are you going to convince her to get out of the car?!” 

I knew that he was serious though, and one way or another (maybe even putting her over his shoulder and carrying her there), they were making it to the beach. 

The moment came. I laid in the wet sand of PJ Hoffmaster State Park just 30 miles west of Grand Rapids. I watched their pink umbrella bop across the sand. I always get nervous for these moments, so I had butterflies too.

They approached the romantic and absolutely soaked set up, he got on his knee, and asked Amber to be his forever. 

Amber jumped up and down and of course yelled “YES!” 

As tears ran down even my face, their family celebrated with excited shouts from their hiding place.

But our adventure in the rain didn’t stop there. We embraced it even more with a quick mini session, and there some of my most favorite pictures I’ve ever taken.
